The physics prospects of the ATLAS experiment at LHC

1996
The ATLAS detector has been proposed as a general purpose pp detector at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN. It is designed to exploit the full discovery potential of the collider, capable of running at the highest luminosities. The physics potential of the ATLAS experiment is presented, with the focus on the search for the Higgs particle and for supersymmetric particles. In addition, the ATLAS capabilities in the field of B‐physics during the expected initial lower luminosity running are discussed.
