Research on Radar Scattering Modeling and Characteristics of Moving Unmanned Air Vehicle Above a Randomly Rough Surface

2020
In this paper, we use the surface integral equation (SIE) based on MLFMA method to study the electromagnetic scattering characteristics of moving unmanned air vehicle (UAV) over a randomly rough surface. In this work, 2D finite impulse response (FIR) filter theory and fast Fourier transform (FFT) method are adopted to generate the three dimensional (3D) Gaussian randomly rough surfaces. Moreover, a tremor model is utilized to model the effect by air flow during flight, when the electromagnetic characteristics of moving UAV is analyzed. Then, for two different flight paths, dynamic radar cross section (RCS) of the "Predator" UAV model is calculated by SIE-MLFMA. Obviously, due to considering the rough surface and tremor in moving, the simulated RCS results have more strong authenticity and engineering application value in real-life environment.
