Improvement of cyclicability through precursor treatment in Ni-rich cathode materials

2021
The application of Ni-rich cathode materials is limited for the serious capacity attenuation. Herein, hydrogen peroxide was used to treat the precursor to improve the electrochemical performance of the material in this study. The results show that the material exhibits stable discharge voltage and slow capacity attenuation during the cycles. The structural stability and lithium ion migration rate of the cathode material can be greatly improved after the precursor is treated. The reduction of cation mixing degree and the increased lithium slab space promote the migration rate of lithium ion, while the increased Ni3+ and Mn4+ content is beneficial to stabilize the structure of material.
