Thirty cases of ischemic oculomotor paralysis treated by acupuncture: 针刺治疗缺血性动眼神经麻痹30例

ABSTRACT Objective To observe the clinical efficacy and safety of acupuncture mainly at nape in treatment of ischemic oculomotor paralysis. Methods Thirty patients clearly diagnosed with ischemic oculomotor paralysis from January 2019 to June 2020 were collected, and were treated by acupuncture mainly at nape, once a day, 5 times per week, 4 weeks in total. Oculomotor paralysis scores of patients, changes in color Doppler ultrasonography of carotid artery were observed before and after treatment, clinical efficacy was evaluated. Results After treatment, the color Doppler ultrasonography of carotid artery showed that cervical vessel stenosis was improved. Of 30 cases with ischemic oculomotor paralysis, the disease was cured clinically in 10 cases, and the treatment was markedly effective in 11 cases, effective in 7 cases, and ineffective in 2cases; the total effective rate was 93.33%. Conclusions Acupuncture has definite efficacy in treatment of ischemic oculomotor paralysis, and is of simple operation, safety, and rapid onset, with the value for clinical promotion and application.
