The Groningen Image Processing SYstem, GIPSY

This paper describes the Groningen Image Processing System which was built during the late seventies based on earlier systems developed in Groningen since 1971 and which has recently been redesigned to run on a variety of Unix architectures. The general designphilosophy, data structure and user interfaces are described in detail and a brief overview of the wide range of applications is provided.
