Bronchiectasis and bronchiolitis obliterans post respiratory syncytial virus infection : Think again
1999
Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV)
lower respiratory tract infectionsare common, yet long-term
sequelaein previously healthy infants and children are rarely reported. We report a child who developed
bronchiectasisand
bronchiolitis obliteransfollowing an RSV
lower respiratory tract infectionbut in whom adenovirus was detected on stored serum. Co-infection with adenovirus is the likely cause for the
bronchiectasisand
bronchiolitis obliterans.
