Measurements of inelastic neutron scattering and specific heat capacity of CeCu5

1987
Abstract From measurements of inelastic neutron scattering in the intermetallic compound CeCu 5 at temperatures of 10, 80, and 300 K the crystalline electric field (CEF) parameters B 2 = 1.76 meV and B 4 = −2.36 ·10 −2 meV have been derived. The specific heat capacity in the temperature range between 0.3 and 8 K exhibits an anomaly at 3.1 K, which is ascribed to an antiferromagnetic phase transition. The huge electronic specific heat coefficient γ = 120 mJmolK 2 shows a considerable hybridization of the 4f- and conduction electron states.
