Molecular Assessment in Patients with Melanoma: When and Why?

Cutaneous melanoma is the most aggressive form of skin cancer, with an increasing global incidence. In patients with BRAF-mutant melanoma, targeted therapy dramatically improved the outcomes both in the advanced and metastatic setting. Detection of BRAF mutations has therefore become mandatory to treat patients with advanced or resected high-risk melanoma.
