Granuloma de colesterol de mama, una lesión que simula carcinoma mamario

2002
Cholesterol granulomaof the breast is an unusual benign condition and seldom reported in the medical literature. It is a response to the extrusion of lipid and its breakdown products or to the located hematoma. It is characterized by the presence of foreing-body giant cellssurrounding large number of cholesterol crystals. Its recognition is important because it can be clinically, mammographically, and grossly confused with carcinoma. A case in a 54-year-old asymptomatic woman is described.
