Perplexities in diagnosis of Odontogenic Keratocyst- Report of a Case and review of misdiagnosed illustrations
2020
Odontogenic keratocyst is a developmental odontogenic cyst with potentially aggressive
behavior, high recurrence rate and much debated conflicting treatment modalities. A prompt
diagnosis, meticulous management and a long term regular follow up is the key to a successful
treatment of such cases. With no characteristic clinical and radiographic features, it poses a
serious risk of misdiagnosis. The purpose of this article is to report and discuss a case of a
previously misdiagnosed case of odontogenic keratocyst, leading to a long term distress of a 24
year old female patient and to review all such misinterpreted cases in past 10 years.
