Multi-target detection for FMCW radar based on interferometer direction finding

To solve the problem of targets pairing between up-chirp and down-chirp in triangular frequency modulation continuous wave radar for multi-targets, a new method combined with interferometer direction finding is proposed. First, the accurate azimuth of targets is measured based on the multi-channel interferometer, then target pairing and range-velocity decoupling using the spectrum of up-chirp and down-chirp is realized according to the azimuth results. Thereby the distance, velocity, and azimuth of multiple targets are measured. Simulation results are given to verify the efficiency of the proposed method.
