The solvent used was a solution of perchloric acid(SO mmol dm-3) in deuteriumoxide of not less than 99.7% purity. Ordinary concentrated perchlorio ac~d was used in preparing this solution and the amount of proton thus introduced into the deuteriumoxide is less than 0.5%.
