TCT-507 Increase of coronary lumen area with improved stent apposition after self-expandable stenting in total occlusions: results of the SPACIOUS pilot study

After successful percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) of a chronic total occlusion (CTO), distal vessel diameter can increase 12-18% over time, due to recuperation of endothelial and smooth muscle cell function. Increase of diameter might lead to a mismatch of stent size and malapposition.
