The CENTERPIECE™ Posterior Cervical Laminoplasty and Internal Fixation System

2021
The technique of posterior cervical laminoplasty was developed to decompress the spinal canal in patients with multilevel compression caused by ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament or cervical spondylosis. Several studies have confirmed its superiority to laminectomy with regard to neurological outcome, preserving spinal stability, and preventing post-laminectomy kyphosis. This chapter introduces the CENTERPIECE™, one of the most commonly used plate fixation systems for cervical laminoplasty. Meanwhile, the detailed steps and surgical precautions are explained with specific illustrative cases.
