Performance of a liquid argon accordion hadronic calorimeter prototype

Abstract A liquid argonhadronic calorimeterusing the “ accordion” geometry and the electrostatic transformer readout scheme has been tested at CERN, together with a liquid argon accordionelectromagnetic prototype. The results obtained for pions on the linearity, the energy resolution and the uniformity of the calorimeterresponse are well within the requirements for operation at the LHC.
