Electroproduction of the Delta (1232) resonance at high momentum transfer
1999
The differential cross section for the process p(e,
e{prime}p){eta} has been measured at Q{sup 2}=2.4 and 3.6 (GeV/c){sup 2} at
center-of-
massenergies encompassing the S{sub 11}(1535) resonance. The latter point is the highest-Q{sup 2} exclusive measurement of this process to date. The resonance width and the helicity-1/2 transition amplitude are extracted from the data, and evidence for the possible onset of scaling in this reaction is shown. A lower bound of approximately 0.45 is placed on the S{sub 11}(1535) {r_arrow} p{eta}
branching fraction.
