Propofol-Ketamine (PK) Anesthesia in Body Implant Surgery
2014
All cosmetic surgery, including body implant surgery, can be performed under
local anesthesiaalone. More often than not, general inhalation
anesthesia(GA) or
propofol-opioid (i.e.,
alfentanilor
remifentanil) total intravenous
anesthesia(TIVA) is used for greater control of patient movement. Brain-monitored
propofolpermits the differentiation between the need for more local analgesia (spinal cord-generated movement) and the need for more
propofol(brain-generated movement). Patients are universally happy with BIS/EMG PK MAC
anesthesia.
