Structural and morphological study of manganese (Mn) doped CdTe nanoparticles

2021
CdTe is an important II-VI binary compound material which is widely used as photovoltaic applications. Undoped and Mn doped CdTe nanoparticles have been synthesized. In this experiment microwave assisted technique has been used for the synthesis which has been done in aqueous medium. We have studied the structural & morphological properties of CdTe Nanoparticles after doping of Mn in pure CdTe nanoparticles. In this Experiment, with the help of X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis we studied the structural properties and with the help of Scanning Electron Microscopy the morphological properties have been studied. The Hexagonal Close Packed structure of the prepared sample was taken through XRD analysis. Here size of undoped CdTe crystallite has been obtained 72 nm & Mn doped (1%, 3% & 5 %) CdTe were found to be 70nm, 68nm and 67 nm respectively using Debye – scherrer equation. The particle size was also calculated using Williamson – Hall plot and Strain –Size plot which was in close agreement with the size obtained by Scherrer equation. SEM and EDS were taken to observe the morphology and the elemental analysis of the nanoparticles. FTIR spectrum was taken to find the various functional groups and bonds present in the nanostructured compounds.
