The Institute of Medical Robotics (IMR) is a multidisciplinary platform that unites superior engineering departments such as Machinery, Electronics, and Materials, and clinical medicine and medical superior units such as School of Medicine and affiliated hospitals to carry out multidisciplinary researches. IMR is headed by Professor Guang-Zhong Yang, and has gathered a group of internationally renowned scholars and outstanding young talents.
IMR involves different disciplines such as Biology, Medicine, Machinery, Materials, Information, Control, Computer. The main research interests include the fundamental research in micro-nano systems, perception and cognition, bioinspired systems, smart materials, as well as the applied research in surgical robotics, rehabilitation and assistive robotics, image-guided intervention, implantable devices and biological microelectronics, biophotonics, mechatronics, etc.
IMR actively creates a high-end talent training base for the national medical robot industry, and implements a talent training mechanism that integrates multiple disciplines and fields. The enrollment of doctoral students is based on the General Enrollment Regulations of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, combined with the majors of students and supervisors, and according to the enrollment plan of the supervisor’s school (department). The specific enrollment plan is subject to the latest annual enrollment guidelines of each school (department).
