The State Key Laboratory of Polyolefin Catalyst and High-Performance Materials, jointly established by the Shanghai Research Institute of Chemical Industry and SJTU, was approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology in 2015. It is the first State Key Laboratory in China featuring polyolefin catalyst research.

The laboratory focuses on four research directions according to the needs of industrial chain development: polymerization catalyst technology, polymerization catalysis process and process engineering, high-performance polyolefin and modification processing technology, and structural and performance characterization analysis of polyolefin resin. It aims to develop core catalyst technologies, achieve high-performance polyolefin materials, serve China’s polyolefin industry, and promote the development of advanced materials, energy conservation and environmental protection, marine engineering, defense and military, aerospace, petrochemical and mining, and modern agriculture.
